Domestic and family violence

The information and resources on this webpage are intended to assist church leaders and faith communities within the Anglican Church Southern Queensland to begin, or continue, the work of engaging fruitfully to address domestic and family violence.

Overview

Domestic and family violence occurs when one person in a relationship uses violence or abuse to maintain power and control over others.

It is estimated that one in six Australian women and one in 16 men have been subjected, since the age of 15, to physical and/or sexual violence by a current or previous cohabiting partner (ABS 2017).
